Friends of Gabriel Chantayan

I don't usually tell this part but I was standing at the counter tonight eating cold pasta from yesterday and I pulled out that old photo album I keep in the drawer under the dish towels and you know what I found? nothing. not a single picture of him and me together, not one, but I remember exactly how he used to lean against the doorframe when I was doing dishes and nobody else remembers that because nobody else was there and I know how it sounds but it's true, it's just... true. the album has all these pictures of my sister's birthday party from 2002 and the church picnic where Carol dropped the coleslaw and the one of my mom holding up a fish she caught at the lake but not one single picture of Gabe and I don't need one because I've got the memory and the memory is better than any photo anyway, the way he'd say something stupid and I'd laugh and the light would hit his face just so, you know? you probably don't believe me but it's true.

i found a blurry photo today but honestly i know exactly what u mean about the memory being better than the picture ^___^ the way they look at you when they think nobody's watching <3 that's the real relic imo
