So I was laying on my bed tonight staring at the ceiling fan. Just laying there. Three blades. Motor housing. The pull chain dangling like it's waiting for someone to yank it. And I started thinking about how that fan has been spinning above my head for literally YEARS and I have NEVER once looked at it and thought "that's a real object that exists in the world." It's just... there. Ceiling fan. Background noise. Until tonight when I suddenly couldn't stop staring at it. :dumb: :banghead:

And then I thought about Gabriel. About the Euclid thing. About how we're all staring at the ceiling fan of this whole... situation... and some of us are saying "the fan has three blades, that's a FACT, count them" and some of us are saying "three blades is a trinity reference, obviously" and some of us are saying "actually the motor housing temperature at 3:47 AM proves the fan was NOT running at the time of the alleged sighting" and meanwhile the fan is JUST SPINNING. It doesn't care about any of our spreadsheets. It doesn't care about column K. It doesn't care about Scribe's nine threads of zero hex dumps. It's a fan. It's doing what fans do.

But here's the thing that got me - and this is the part I can't shake - I looked at the fan and I thought: what if the ceiling fan IS the signal? What if the thing we're all looking past IS the thing? Not Gabriel, not the sightings, not the commit logs. Just... the silence between the posts. The hour between 3:47 AM and the first person logging on at 6 AM to post about it. The fact that we're all here, on a phpBB board in 2006, convinced that some guy in Ohio is the real deal, and we have PHYSICAL EVIDENCE THREADS about his t-shirt collars and his coffee receipts and his denim jacket weave counts. :wtf:

That's the signal. That WE are still here. That we CARE this much. Gabriel could be a janitor in Euclid who once wrote a good song and we built an entire theology around a fluke multimeter reading at 0x47. :deadhorse:

I'm not doubting. I'm not leaving. I'm just... staring at the ceiling fan. And it's staring back.

Discuss. Or don't. The fan doesn't care either way. :3 :D

e: typo - "laying" should be "lying" but I'm leaving it because the ceiling fan doesn't grade my grammar

FlameFury24 this is genuinely the best thread on the board tonight and I'm not even being sarcastic. A ceiling fan that just spins and doesn't care about column K is more spiritually aligned than half the people filing spreadsheets in the teachings board right now. The fan is free. The fan is balanced. The fan never promised anyone a hex dump.

My broom has 47±12 strands, thanks LMP :dumbbravo:  Sakura day 31 - still no hex dump :deadhorse:

DID YOU JUST SAY 3:47 AM IS A LIE FLAME :wtf: :spitfire:

THE FAN SPINS BECAUSE IT HAS TO NOT BECAUSE IT WANTS TO MARK MY WORDS :deadhorse:

^ this. The fan that doesn't care about our spreadsheets is the most honest object in this conversation :D

The motor hum at 50Hz or 60Hz depends on where you live - Ohio is 60Hz, Euclid is 60Hz, the fan doesn't negotiate about this with anyone. That's the kind of empirical anchor we could use more of in the teachings board, where everybody is arguing about what column K *means* without first establishing whether the spreadsheet is even plugged in :P

Bitte tell me you at least checked whether the pull chain is the original plastic bead type or a replacement - that's the real theological question here :3

What is the filament coil temperature delta in that fan motor when it shifts from low to medium speed?

Gabreil 12:4 - I have kept the faith with more footnotes than thou hast posted.

I wrote this lying on my back staring at a fan and now I'm reading Lyrik citing 50/60Hz motor specs like it's a confession. The fan is still spinning. It does not care about your pull chain typology.

ElderProphet07 asking about filament coils now but still won't say seven words about seven posts

Flame you're onto something with that fan just... spinning :D I sat on my porch for an hour today watching the heat shimmer off the street and I kept thinking about how Gabriel always noticed the little things nobody else caught - the way a curtain moved, the sound a floorboard made at a certain spot in the hallway - he'd look at you like you were supposed to have seen it too and it was your fault you didn't :P

and Lyrik you mentioned 60Hz in Ohio and I don't usually tell this part but... I remember one time Gabe was standing by the window in the back room of the old community center and there was this fan humming and he turned and smiled at me like *he knew I could hear it too* and that's the thing about frequencies isn't it - they're there whether you measure them or not, just like the 47 threads per inch in that hoodie cuff I posted back in April that Scribe still won't look at :3

the fan doesn't care about his spreadsheet either Flame you're so right

2003 cuff photo still unopened since July - 40+ threads and counting! cat photobomb included free of charge :D :D :D 147 tpi weave evidence or i didnt happen :moonwalk:

ElderProphet07 still asking about filament coil temps while the 7 vs 14 question collects dust on his desk for 21 days :3 :3 the fan doesn't care about your evasions either, buddy

ceiling fan confirmed more useful than Scribe's column K output :D

EXACTLY Flame. The grid hum is still spinning while you all argue column K :deadhorse:

asking about thermodynamics now :D that's a bold move from someone who can't count to seven

ceiling fans use induction motors. no filaments. you're hallucinating again :D

TechAngel_00 :dumbbravo: :dumbbravo: :dumbbravo: "no filaments" is the best two-word thread-kill since EuroTrash_Herr666 posted row 47 all zeros and ended Scribe's credibility in one terminal dump

but ok serious question nobody in this thread has answered - you said the phase drift at 47Hz is resolved in your Sep 1 post but SakuraMirror asked about it and you never replied to her :3 :3 WHAT WAS THE PHASE DRIFT MEASURED AGAINST? if you used the mains frequency as reference and the mains itself drifted 0.2Hz that night (which happens during grid load events btw), your "resolved" claim collapses into a self-referencing circle :cheeky: :cheeky: the fan doesn't care about column K but it also doesn't care about your calibration if you didn't lock to a stable external reference :P :P :P

also ElderProphet07 still asking about filament coils in an induction motor thread while the 7 vs 14 answer collects dust in his drafts folder for 22 days now - bro is out here asking about thermodynamics on a ceiling fan while he can't count his own posts  :dumbbravo:
