so I had this whole argument today. she's standing there with her Discman like it's a sacred object, telling me CDs are "the purest format" and you can "hold the music in your hands" and I'm like... sis. YOU WERE THERE when Napster died. YOU WERE THERE. you KNOW what happened. and she just looks at me and says not everyone who left a format was running from something.
...okay but SERIOUSLY. what even IS a CD. a plastic frisbee with a laser reading a scratch. you sneeze and track 5 skips forever. but also I get it, I do, the ritual of it, the jewel case crack, the liner notes... but she said "you just want everything to be invisible" and I had to LEAVE THE ROOM because that was.... that was not about CDs was it.
so anyway. CDs: dead or just... sleeping? or is my sister gaslighting me with a Sony ad from 1999
