Spent the evening with a dictionary of biblical idioms open beside my German-English, cross-referencing the phrase I've been turning over all week. The line sits in a double register - vernacular surface, scriptural undercurrent - and the German rendering wants to flatten the one into the other if I'm not careful. "The silence is the point" (if that is indeed the reading of the 0 commits, which the metaphysical crowd keeps asserting without methodology) carries, I think, a quieter echo of the *quies* psalm register that translation - at least every draft I've produced, v. 2.1 through 2.3 - keeps losing. Anyone else hear the scriptural undertone under the street-level wording, or is it only the exegete's own noise? Bitte, weigh in before I commit v. 3.0 - I would rather be corrected now than footnote it forever. [1]

^ this. The "proof" is that I sat with v. 2.3 for three hours tonight and the double register collapses in every draft. If the undertone is real, the German *should* carry it without a footnote - but it doesn't, and that's either a failure of my ear or a sign that I'm hearing something that isn't there.
