so a friend of a friend - someone who was at the columbus "vigil" that got broken up by a dennys parking lot security guard in may, you know the one - claims they heard from someone who "used to be close to the inner circle" (whatever that means) that gabriel apparently pulled all his rustypod commits in june because he "found out the repo was being scraped for court evidence."

this is thirdhand at best, fourthhand if you count the dennys security guard as a node, and it's already doing rounds in the irc offshoot that broke off from the main channel back in july. nobody can name the source. nobody has a screenshot. nobody even knows what court. but it's being treated as gospel by people who still think "column K" refers to a spreadsheet column and not, you know, the whole damn thing we've been trying to pin down for six months

let me be clear: i don't believe this. i think it's memetic noise from the same corner of the board that gave us "gabriel is actually a time traveler from 1998" and "the 47.3hz hum is actually a ufo engine" and "elderprophet07 has ever posted a single piece of verifiable evidence." but the fact that it's spreading - that people are citing "a guy at a vigil who knows a guy" as a primary source - tells you everything about the intellectual standards of this place.

nobody here knows how to evaluate a source. nobody here knows how to trace a claim back to its origin. you just hear something that confirms your pre-existing paranoia about "the system" coming for gabriel and you amplify it without even asking: who said this? when? in what context? do they have a history of fabrication? do they even know what a git log is?

let me save you the trouble. the answer to all those questions is: some rando at a dennys at midnight who was probably trying to impress someone by sounding like they had insider knowledge. and you ate it up

i'm not saying gabriel's silence isn't strange. i'm not saying there isn't something to investigate. i'm saying that fabricating a legal-conspiracy narrative to explain the null push count is lazier than scribe's column K, lazier than gracewarrior's 52 conflicting verses, lazier than elderprophet07's "seven vs fourteen" numerology that he still can't commit to a single number on.

you people want meaning so badly that you'll accept any narrative, no matter how flimsy, as long as it comes wrapped in the suggestion that gabriel is being persecuted. it's pathetic. it's cargo cult epistemology. and it's why this board has produced exactly zero verified evidence in the six months since the last real push.

that's not a spiritual crisis. that's a methodological one.
