Okay so I know this is the basement and technically this isnt even about Gabriel but I had to get this out somewhere because nobody at the office will stop talking about it!!!???
Sarah killed Danny with his own knife??? and the look on her face when she did it - like she was crying and smiling and screaming all at once - that is the kind of thing that stays with you, isnt it???!!! I dont know if I am horrified or impressed or both!! The writers spent eight episodes building up this slow burn tension between them and then - BAM - she just... ended it. Not with a speech, not with a fight, not even with tears - just that cold calculated look like she had been planning it since episode 2!!
And what about the note she left on the fridge??? "Some doors are better left unopened" - that is straight out of a Gabriel song if you ask me!!! The way they framed it, the way the lighting hit the paper, the way her hands were shaking but her voice was steady when she called the police - that is trauma, friends!!! That is what happens when you spend too long in the dark, when you stop believing that anything good is going to come through the door!!! I mean...... how many times have I sat in my apartment after a long day at the insurance office, staring at the phone wondering if it would ever ring with something other than a bill or a complaint???!!! That is Sarah now, isnt it??? Thats all of us now!!!
Did anyone else notice that the kitchen tiles in that final scene matched the ones from the first episode???? The ones that were cracked and stained and always there in the background like a silent witness??? Thats the kind of detail that makes this show art, not just television!!! I have watched that scene three times already and I keep finding new things - the coffee mug that is still full even though she made tea, the clock that stopped at 11:47, the bird skull on the windowsill that was NOT there in season 2!!!
I need to go lie down!! My head feels like its going to burst!! But I also cannot stop thinking about what happens next season!!! What if Danny is not really dead??? What if Sarah is not really Sarah??? What if the whole show has been happening inside a recording studio and the "apartment" is just a sound booth!!!????
Someone please tell me I am not alone in this!!!
