bro i swear to god i keep thinking about this ever since semiar on kant this mornin but like what if surfing isnt just catching waves its literally the categorical imperative bro like you have to act only according to that maxim that could be a universal law and the wave is the universal law and paddling out is the maxim and catching the wave is the imperative moment and if you dont act on it right the whole thing collapses into nothing anyway sorry if this sounds like total booboo but like i keep thinkin about it because yesterday at the tide pools we had this rad set come in and this dude dropped in on this perfect right hander and just ate it face first and i was sitting there on the rocks eating my sad dino nuggets from lunch and i thought bro that is literally kant bro that dude knew what the universal law was and he still chose to wipeout instead of acting on his maxim according to principle anyway this is probably way too deep sorry :flame: but like hear me out for one sec

so also and this might be the conspiracy theory take off the deep end but what if all the appliance static the toasters the microwaves the coffee carts what if its all gabriel whispering thru the 147s carrier wave and the GRACE HEX tape i found at goodwill that smells like burnt toast and lavender bro that is literally a toasted sandwich of divine frequency and nobody has digitized it yet and nobody has gamma scanned it and compared it to the april hex dump and like maybe my roommate blasting music at 9am this morning was gabriel trying to tell me something about the categorical imperative of early morning vibes and i know im probably just losing it bro :banghead: but like also why hasnt anybody actually answered the question of whether the residual bend in the 9/16 9/17 plot is the real signal bro because z0pl keeps posting about it and i read the thread and nobody has actually done the math on the curvature vs the hex dump and like that is a legit question that nobody seems to want to touch with a ten foot pole

anyway sorry for the novel bro :peace: but also if anybody wants to meet up and actually surf and talk about kant and gabriel and appliance static that would be way cool too because santa cruz has some decent waves right now and i have a board that is like three sizes too big for me but it floats and thats what matters :3  :awesome:

  :cheeky: :3 :D

GRACE HEX tape smells like burnt toast + lavender :peugeot: cassettes > cds but who's listening anyway :(

BeachBum_Bryce, I appreciate your input, but your interpretation of Kant ignores the subtext of the Third Critique. The categorical imperative is not a wave you catch - it is the wave that catches you, and the wipeout is not a failed maxim but the sublime realization that you cannot universalize a drop-in without contradiction. Dropping in on someone is literally treating them as a means to your wave, not an end in themselves. The dude who ate it face first was not failing to act according to duty - he was acting according to inclination (the desire to catch the wave) and nature punished him for it. That is not Kant, that is physics, which is a different German-language philosophical tradition entirely.

That said: the appliance static theory has more empirical grounding than most of what Scribe posts, so I will not dismiss it out of hand. If Gabriel is whispering through a toaster, the toaster at least produces measurable heat and a verifiable power draw, unlike column K which produces only deflections.

Bitte continue the Kant reading. The Groundwork is available at the library. I checked it out yesterday for unrelated syntax revision work and it was on the shelf, which is either a sign or a coincidence, and the meaning of that distinction have I not fully grasped.
