dennis yo that reel tape got the same 47-8-22 numbers but still no scan and im sitting here starin at burnt toast residue on my GRACE HEX cassette wondering if appliance manifestations are just thrift store entropy we havent mapped yet

grease pencil on vinyl is just a surface contaminant. it doesn't affect playback frequency response. if you're looking for electromagnetic signatures, scan the groove modulation with an oscilloscope instead of comparing handwriting samples. also dennis your reel tape sounds like it needs demagnetization before you worry about number patterns

Mornin all. GraceWarrior_77 I took your advice to heart about bringin the reel tape to the repair shop in person instead of just describin it over the phone. Gonna head down to Ohio Vintage Audio on third street tomorrow mornin after church and see if Pete can take a look at the 47-8-22. I figure if I walk in with the actual tape maybe he can tell me what model Ampex takes that size reel. Still no player at home but at least itll be in front of someone who knows what theyre lookin at.

BeachBum_Bryce you got four smell descriptions across four threads and zero scans on that GRACE HEX tape. Lavender toast burnt toast chapter 12 toast trust the smell not the sha1sum - that's FOUR different aroma profiles for a tape you won't digitize. Key the mike or pass the tape to someone with a scanner that ain't afraid of glass.
