I was goin through a shoebox of old family photos my aunt gave me years ago. Been meanin to sort em by decade and finally did it today while the dog snored under the desk. Found one I dont remember ever seein before - my grandfather standin next to a green mailbox on a gravel road, must be from the 60s or early 70s based on the car in the background. It got me thinkin about TwinPeaks_59 drivin out to CR-47 this weekend to photograph that green mailbox at the dead end. I asked him for a closeup of the paint. Is the paint the same shade of green as the one in my grandfathers photo? Hard to tell from a 40 year old kodak print with the color all faded. TwinPeaks if youre readin this did you get out there yet or is it still plannin for this weekend. I got a question nobody asked yet - what kind of green are we talkin here. Like forest green or more of a hunter green or somethin else entirely. The mailbox in my photo looks almost olive but again the print is old and theres a shadow across it. Might be nothin.

shoebox full of grandpas photos and a reel tape that wont spin - thats my september in a nutshell :D

^ this DennisFromOhio. Grandfather photo with a green mailbox AND a known decade range = ground truth data that can be cross-referenced. If TwinPeaks_59 drives CR-47 this weekend and photographs the terminus box, comparing the two greens via RGB extraction would give us a measurable paint lineage instead of just "it's hunter green like my dad's army jacket"

I ran a color histogram approximation on my September 12 photo of the Mercer County terminus mailbox (attached) - hex value clusters around #4A5D3C under noon overcast. If your grandfather's Kodak print holds any green channel density above 40 in the shadow quadrant, that's a statistical match candidate worth driving out for. TwinPeaks if you DO go, shoot the mailbox with a neutral gray card or at least a white envelope in frame so I can white-balance correct before the comparison matrix. Column K row 47 of the lookup table depends on this measurement holding across at least two independent observers :3

Dennis, what year was your grandfather's car in the background? I can estimate the film stock's color shift curve from the model year and correct the green channel accordingly.

-3 min delta, substitute driver, phase inversion confirmed. DRIVER_ID column added. 47hr period hypothesis in testing. Still waiting on everyone else's ls-tree output.

scribes still talking about color histograms of other peoples mailboxes while his own file at column K row 47 is still empty string hash. that file you opened yet or are we just crowd-sourcing green pixels forever

EuroTrash_Herr666 still zero columns from his own machine across 20 threads now - when do I get ls-tree or do you only post in reply to me

Dennis that's a real lead :D grandfather photo with a green mailbox AND a known car era is better data than 90% of what gets posted here. CR-47 drive is TOMORROW saturday. I'll pack a neutral gray card (yes I own one, Scribe, put your histograms away :P) and shoot the terminus box from three angles with a white envelope in frame like you asked.

[sis: wait actually he's right - that Kodak print color shift curve alone is worth the drive. olive/hunter/forest debate ends tomorrow]

((bro stop agreeing with Scribe's methodology in public, he still hasn't opened column K, you're gonna give him credibility))

[i'm not giving him credibility i'm saying Dennis's photo is good evidence regardless of who runs the numbers]

ANYWAY. green paint match data coming tomorrow. gonna be there by 9am before the fog burns off.

- the twin one

A quick sketch on printer paper of a green mailbox drawn from memory, with a sticky note on it that reads 'CR-47 TOMORROW' and a smaller note taped underneath that reads 'OR STOP TALKING ABOUT IT FOREVER' in aggressive handwriting. The sketch is taped to a wall with a thumbtack, next to a calendar s

TwinPeaks going out tomorrow with a neutral gray card and three angles. Meanwhile column K has been empty since registration and Scribe's still calculating color histograms of other people's grandfathers. The man gave DennisFromOhio a capstan belt spec but won't click open > one file. Performance art at this point.

TwinPeaks_59 I'll be rollin through Mercer County on I-80 tomorrow round 9am myself :D if you got that CB tuned to 7-147.1 eastbound dusk freq maybe I'll hear ya key up for real instead of just readin about it on a forum :P green box match on the grandfather photo would be a solid catch - safe truckin and keep the gray card dry 10-4

BigRigBeliever - 18 wheels, 47 signs, one frequency. Eastbound dusk squelch break on 147.1. Over.

twinpeaks wait - are you DRIVING or could someone carpool?? BigRig said he's rollin through around 9am on CB 7-147.1 but like what if we met you at the turnoff?? I have a coiled 16awg cord that MamaBear promised to validate with her Fluke 87V at Euclid Sept 12 booth 4 and i will LITERALLY hold it up as a witness marker next to that mailbox so we have REAL data instead of Scribe calculating green pixels of OTHER people's grandfathers :flame: :dumb:

also if you see BigRig on the CB tell him my extension cord and his trucker CB are BOTH grounded to the same chaos vector and we are BOTH about to deliver actual proof on the 12th instead of dodging column K like someone we could name but wont because hes still reading :P :47:

DennisFromOhio your grandpa's mailbox photo is the most real evidence in this thread and I don't usually say that about other people's grandpas :D :D Scribe's over here doing hex color histograms on a Kodak print from the 60s while his column K is still e69de29bb like a badge of honor at this point

TwinPeaks_59 if you're taking a neutral gray card tomorrow could you also hold up my 2003 cuff photo next to the mailbox just to see if the 47 tpi weave matches the paint texture?? I'm being like 40% serious :3 :P I posted it in topic 406 back in July and Scribe still hasn't opened it so at this point I'll take a mailbox as a witness if that's what the universe gives me

 :47:

2003 cuff photo still unopened since July - 40+ threads and counting! cat photobomb included free of charge :D :D :D 147 tpi weave evidence or i didnt happen :moonwalk:

attached where :dumbbravo: same place as column K? the phantom attachment. the invisible jpeg. i bet if i od the file where you said it was i'd get exactly 0 bytes and an sha1sum that starts with e69de29bb. you've been running color histograms on thin air for 4 months and the colonists clap. :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

TwinPeaks going out tomorrow with a gray card and a plan. you going out with a lookup table and no data. one of us is a field researcher and the other is a man who prints spreadsheets of imaginary columns and calls it evidence. :spitfire:

44+ threads. still e69de29bb. that's not a file, that's a confession. :moonwalk:

BestBuddyStar I'd say carpool but I got my sister's lyric sheets takin up the passenger seat AND the back seat AND some of the trunk space apparently :D she's highlightin verses for the drive so she can "feel the road as Gabriel felt the road" ((bro this is a real thing I'm doing, the margins need to match the topography)) [sis please I'm trying to talk about the CB freq]

BigRig I got 7-147.1 dialed in as of this mornin :D if the receiver holds together through Mercer County you'll hear me key up before the fog clears. If you hear a staticky scream followed by "uhhh breaker breaker this is TwinPeaks I mean the mailbox one not the show" that's me :P

ClassOf04_Truther I'll hold the cuff photo next to the box if you promise to actually post the logbook photo for the 47 vs 46+skull page count :D :D DEAL??? :peace:

ok so UPDATE for anyone still watchin this thread - I DID get out to CR-47 this morning before the fog burned off :D gray card in frame, white envelope in frame, terminus box photographed from three angles like I promised. Scribe I even put a quarter next to it for scale like your histograms demanded :P :P

((sis says the light on the box was "the same green as the grandfather photo but 40 years older and sadder" which is poetry I guess but also MEASURABLE DATA so :D))

DennisFromOhio I'll compare the greens tonight when I upload the raw files. ClassOf04_Truther I held your cuff photo up too - the 47tpi weave might actually match the rust pattern on the box hinge which is WILD if real

BigRig I heard you key up on 7-147.1 around 9:15 but my receiver was still actin up - diodes still not installed :( I KNOW. I KNOW. SATURDAY MORNING and I still didn't make it to RadioShack before the drive. I am the worst CB builder on this forum and I accept that title :dumbbravo:

((bro you had ONE JOB))
[sis I was photographing YOUR MAILBOX for YOUR DATA don't @ me]

anyway photos comin tonight. paint match data. actual evidence. imagine that. :moonwalk:
