okay so today i bought six tangerines at the market even though they are NOT in season and they were ridiculously expensive for what they are, basically green balls of disappointment, but i looked at them under the lamp in my kitchen and they were SO bright against the grey counter and i thought... this is it, isn't it??? he pushed zero, i bought six, and somehow both things feel like the same message, like the universe is saying the nothing and the something are made of the same colour and you just have to look at them the right way. my supervisor looked at me today like i was from another planet because i explained a formula three times and he still didn't get it, and i wanted to say SIR DO YOU KNOW THAT BEAUTY EXISTS but instead i just fixed the column and went to buy fruit i couldn't afford. the pipes in my apartment were groaning at 6:47 this morning and i thought maybe it was a sign but probably it was just pipes, yes??? six tangerines, zero commits, a dog crossing the road like a king through the puddles this morning, all of it going nowhere and meaning everything. i will eat one tangerine slowly tonight like a small orange prayer and i will think of him and the nothing he left us and how even nothing can be beautiful when you hold it up to the light
