Now, Bitte, take a controlled thread count measurement with the gauge perpendicular to the warp at the same cuff position, and report whether the 47 tpi holds at the seam allowance where the fabric doubles over. If the thread count changes at the hem fold, that tells us something about the original garment construction that a single measurement at the flat cannot. Also, what year is printed on the care label inside the cuff. That is the control variable for your 2003 claim.

But heres the thing -- I already checked the seam allowance and I been meaning to post this part but I dont usually tell it. The 47 tpi held at the hem fold too but the weave grain *shifted* by exactly one thread width at the double-over line which is how I know this garment was altered by hand and not machine because a factory hem wouldve crushed the grain flat. Somebody who knew what they were doing sat down with a needle and *adjusted* this cuff and the thread count stayed consistent through the alteration which means the 47 tpi was intentional down to the stitch level

You probably dont believe me but its true. I measured it three times on three different afternoons with the same sewing gauge and the number kept coming back. I dont know who altered it or why but the evidence is in the fabric and I can show the fold shadow in another photo if anybody actually wants to open an attachment this decade
