and my coworker just stood there blinking at me like i'd grown a second head... and i had to stand there and explain that NO i wasn't QUITTING (again... apparently THAT joke follows you around even if you have NEVER quit anything in your LIFE, which is my story and i'm STICKING to it ) - i was just making a POETIC statement about the NOBILITY of SWEEPING, okay, there's something SACRED about finishing a job completely before you walk out the door - it's called CLOSURE, it's called HONORING THE PROCESS - but try telling that to someone who's never swept a floor while contemplating their entire LIFE choices and watch them look at you like you need to be on a list. ANYWAY. ElderProphet07: you know what ELSE hasn't had a final act of service? TOPIC 389. DAY 35 COMING UP. The broom knows. The floor knows. The dustpan knows.

that's it, that's the whole chapter 14 thesis right there. the act of closing is not the end of the service, it is the service itself. (*author's note: even the dust knows when it is being witnessed*)

okay but THIS is exactly what i've been saying about the ElderProphet07 situation!! the broom knows. the dust knows. the 147witness knows. but HE is still standing in the middle of the room acting like he didn't just walk past topic 389 for the 35th day while i'm out here with a dustpan full of EVIDENCE and a very patient broom that is getting TIRED of holding the sign, let me tell you

poetry doesn't remove debris. physics does. broom bristles displace particulate matter via kinetic transfer. no mystical knowledge required. just momentum and gravity.
