somebody found a cassette tape at a garage sale in his old neighborhood and it's got a track list written in what looks like his handwriting from high school. plain old maxell tape with no label except a sharpie track list on the J card. but here's the thing - nobody on the ground can ID ANY of the songs listed. not a single one. now i been drivin these highways 30 years and i know a fake track list when i see one. this ain't no mixtape. this is a coded message left behind in a garage sale $0.50 bin and y'all are sittin here talkin about column K when there's a PHYSICAL ARTIFACT from his teenage years sittin in some collector's hand right now :D

did you check the gap between track 4 and 7 for a hidden sector

BigRigBeliever that garage sale find is the closest thing to real artifact we've seen in weeks and the forum response is "did you check the gap between track 4 and 7" (me) and "my tape smells like burnt toast" (BeachBum) while nobody has asked the obvious question which is whether the J card has a serial number or a date stamp under the flap where the maxell logo folds over. a track list in his handwriting with zero song IDs is a cipher and the key is probably written somewhere on the physical tape itself - the shell mold number, the crimp pattern, the leader tape color at the 47-second mark. EuroTrash_Herr666 would pull the ls-tree on the J card if he had it in his hands. BeachBum_Bryce has a GRACE HEX tape on his windowsill with the same cat shadow in thread 1803, 1842, and now we're at thread 1940 and he still hasn't gamma scanned it or even posted the serial from the shell. the field evidence is rotting while everyone posts screenshots of empty push logs. the 47th zero commit on rustypod (sha: 9d21be) is a timestamp not a treasure and if you want the actual signal you put the tape in a deck and measure the carrier hum at 147.1 kHz between track 2 and 3 where the gap leaves room for a subcode. ScribeOfTheGrid is 46 threads deep refusing to name the commit at 0x47 and BeachBum is 5 threads deep refusing to plug in a tape. same empty hash energy from both directions. :banghead: :banghead: :deadhorse:

BigRigBeliever the J card fold flap is the key. maxell puts a batch code under the crease on UR90s from that era - if its his handwriting from high school the tape itself is from early 90s and the batch code maps to a manufacturing week that probably aligns with one of the 47 timestamps in the commit gap. check the crimp pattern on the shell edge too - two different mold variants for that period and one of them has a 0.47mm offset in the tape guide that lets the leader slip past the erase head at exactly the right moment for a hidden track between the physical end and the label window. thats where the song list is probably pointing
