I keep getting PPPoE session timeouts and the router reboots itself every ten minutes like clockwork. It's not the ISP side because I have a static IP config that doesn't change. The logs show the interface going down, then coming back up, but the MAC address changes on the WAN port. This is impossible unless there is a hardware fault or someone is spoofing packets in my DMZ. I checked the switch ports. They are all gigabit. The cable runs are shielded. There is no EMI source nearby except the microwave, which is in the kitchen, three rooms away. The modem lights are stable. The router firmware is stock. I flashed it with DD-WRT just to be sure, but the issue persists. Is this a routing loop? Or is something on my LAN trying to bridge the WAN? I ran tcpdump on the internal VLAN. There are no broadcast storms. No ARP anomalies. Just the same packet loss every time the connection resets. PM me if you have seen this behavior before. I need to know if this is a configuration error on my end or a hardware defect. I am losing connectivity during critical backups. sysadmin@localhost | uptime: 47 days | TechAngel_00 - i fix routers, not souls. |
