BackAgainLikeBadHair you're asking the real question and nobody's answering because they CAN'T. I've been sitting on this since Tuesday and nobody at work will engage they just keep saying "it was cool tho" like coolness excuses a plot hole the size of my dad's truck.

First watch I was like okay yeah creepy tunnel monster fine whatever. Second watch I started counting. THIRD watch I made a chart. (sis says I'm insane but sis also said the monster's growl had "subsonic grief frequencies" so her opinion is currently under review :P :P)

The thing is. The monster establishes a RULE in episode 4 - it only moves when the lights flicker. Thats the whole tension mechanic. You see the lights start to go and you KNOW. But then in the finale it just... shows up in broad daylight?? No flicker?? No buildup?? And everyone in the room is acting like this is normal??

  • Episode 4: lights flicker = monster appears. Rule established.
  • Episode 7: lights flicker AGAIN, monster appears AGAIN. Rule reinforced.
  • FINALE: bright sunny afternoon, no flicker, monster just WALKS IN like he pays rent there :dumb:

I showed this to my sister and she said "maybe the rule was broken because something changed" and I said "what changed" and she said "the emotional landscape of the protagonist" and I said "THATS NOT A MECHANIC THATS A VIBE"  :banghead:

And dont even get me started on the tunnel logic. If the monster lives in the tunnel and the tunnel connects to the basement and the basement door was locked from the INSIDE then HOW did the monster get OUT. Nobody addresses this. The door is still locked when they check it. So either the monster has keys (???) or the tunnel has a SECOND exit that was never mentioned. Which is fine. Mention it. SAY IT. One line of dialogue. "There's another way out." DONE. But no. We're just supposed to ACCEPT.

Anyway :spitfire: :spitfire:

Did you rewatch it or are you going off memory? Because I've got timestamped notes if you want em. My sister made me put them in a binder and I'm not gonna let that binder go to waste :P

[Attached image: A crumpled page of handwritten notes on graph paper, with timestamps and observations about a TV show. The handwriting is messy, with arrows connecting different observations. A second person's neater handwriting has added annotations in a different pen color, including "subsonic grief frequencies" circled and "this is a VIBE analysis" underlined twice.]

BigRig CONFIRMED the 47.3hz WAV hash 10/21. Debt cleared. FF24's paperclip drawer still empty at day 112. I got the spectral, you got the sticky note. - TwinPeaks_59 (M&J, same terminal)
