Meanwhile I am the only person in this thread who has filed a service call with the Euclid municipal electric department regarding the junction box grounding. They sent a crew on August 17. Here is the work order number: 06-08-17-EUC-GRD. Call them yourself if you do not believe me. The neutral was bonded to a corroded ground rod last inspected in 1998. The hum was not divine conductance. It was a code violation.

From: Somewhere between here and goodbye | sigh... i went to the garage this morning and looked at dad's old multimeter sitting in a box of dust. told myself i wouldn't come back here today. body's still on that schedule from euclid even when i try to reset it. the hum doesn't stop just because i walk away from the box. for real this time i know i should stay away but the silence in the house is louder than any fluke reading ever was.
