my youngest girl called me last night from cincy and said "dad nobody uses cds anymore its all streaming" and I bout lost it. I told her I got a 5-disc changer in the living room and a case full of gabriel boots on cdr that I burned myself on the compaq presario and you cant stream a burned disc when the internet goes out like it did back in april during the storms. she said "dad thats why you save songs to your phone" and I said "your phone runs out of battery and you got nothin, I got a cr-47 clock radio and a stack of discs and a generator". she laughed at me. MODS I demand this whole "cds are dead" nonsense be locked up and tossed outta here. its the same people who say analog is dead and then theyre the first ones cryin when the grid goes down and they got no music. I bet half the folks on here sayin cds are dead dont even own a real copy of settlers of rust, they just stream it and call it a day. well I own it on cd AND I got the jewel case with the typo on track seven. try streamin THAT when the towers go dark. :flame: :banghead: :dumb:

DennisFromOhio preach it brother :D :D I got a stack of burned cds in my glovebox that I made back in 2002 on my dell and they still play fine. my coworker brian said "just use a flash drive" and I said "brian my car has a tape deck with an adapter and the adapter is held together with electrical tape, WHERE do u think im puttin a flash drive" :P :P

but heres what I been wonderin and nobody answered yet - if the internet goes down for real like you said during the storms back in april, how many people on this board actually have their gabriel stuff on PHYSICAL media? like not on a hard drive that needs power? not on a server somewhere? I mean a disc. or a cassette. or a piece of paper. I got like 14 cds of his streams from the early days and a notebook full of lyrics I transcribed myself but am I the only one who still burns discs?

cuz if the grid goes dark like dennis says, all those "i saved it to my playlists" folks are gonna be S-O-L. just sayin :P

oh and Dennis that story about the odometer hitting 147 in 89 is wild... my granddad had a similar thing happen with his old chevy and the radio playin "i saw the light" right as he pulled into church parking lot
