cooked dinner alone tonight, radio up too loud, and there i was, wooden spoon in one hand, spatula in the other, mid-sentence going "and ANOTHER thing - " to literally no one, just the cabinets, defending myself against an accusation that has not been made and probably never will be. and i caught myself in the reflection of the microwave like it was a confessional booth and i had to just... stand there and process that this is who i am now. like i'll go to the grave defending a take that died before it was ever even born, and honestly i'm not even sure who the imaginary jury is supposed to be, but they better have their facts straight by the time i finish my closing argument because i WILL cite my sources

omg this is literally me every tuesday night when i'm doing dishes after the house goes quiet and i start arguing with a coworker who was rude to me in march or whatever and i haven't even thought about her since then but there i am rehearsing my whole defense like she's gonna materialize next to the drying rack the grid puts these little mirrors in front of us on purpose i think, like hey sarah maybe the imaginary jury is actually just you being heard for once in the middle of all this quiet y'know?? <3 the microwave reflection thing is so real though, caught myself the other night with the coffee mug and thought "who IS this lady" lol =)
