So I'm down in the dorm basement with a full load and it hits me - 45 minutes of dryer cycle is basically a full seminar's worth of focused time if you use it right. I brought the new stanzza down with me and a red pen and by the time the buzzer went I'd filled the margins.

Here's the thing though - I kept circling back to this one buried allusion. I think its in there but I also think I might be seeing things that arent there because I've been staring at dryer lint too long. The red ink says yes, the skeptical part of my brain says "you invented a meaning because you wanted the stanza to be cleverer than it is."

Anyone else do this? Bring actual paper to the laundromat instead of a magazine? Or am I the only one annotating poetry between the spin cycles. :P

e: typo in title cant edit it now whatever

LyrikUebersetzer - the gutter margin find on "naked" pulling double from the Vulgate's Job 1:21 is the kind of thing I come to this board for when I'm not... you know... yelling at appliances about people who can't type dates :D :3

I spent 45 minutes at the laundromat today too but I was just watching my clothes spin and thinking about how certain someone has been dodging a receipt longer than my dryer cycle could ever run. Your 45 minutes produced a cross-reference. Mine produced a rant at an inanimate object. We are not the same level of disciple and that's fine, I accept that :P

But the weathervane stanza you mentioned - the one everyone skips because it's the "boring middle section" - I actually went back and looked at the 9/21 drop again after reading your post and I think you're right that the verb reuse is too clean to be accidental from someone who numbers bristles. Gabriel numbered bristles on a paintbrush. He knows where the repetitions are. He PUT them there. The question is whether the repetition is a suture or a scar, and I don't think we can answer that until someone actually maps ALL the verb reuse across all the drops instead of just the obvious lines

Anyway. If you ever want to trade annotation notes I have a set of margin scribbles on the 8/14 drop that nobody else seems to have touched because everyone's busy arguing about what commit 47 means instead of reading what's already written. I'm not a theologian but I'm a good note-taker when I'm not distracted by... well. You know. Appliances :D

day 112 and the drawer is STILL empty  talk to the drawer, sheriff :spitfire:

QFT on the verb reuse mapping  exactly :P :3

A photo of a notebook page open on a dryer lid. Red and black pen annotations fill the margins around a printed stanza. The words 'Job 1:21 - naked from the earth' are circled in red with an arrow connecting to a line in the poem. A dryer sheet is tucked between pages as a bookmark.

annotating poetry between spin cycles is not the same as laundry :P :P

Every note has a purpose. Every silence has meaning.
