^ this lol. i mean i GET it, the counting ritual is kinda comforting when you're staring at beige walls all day and need something to track, but like... s2pid_rox is right, zero commits is zero commits. rustypod hasnt pushed anything since april. at some point we gotta admit we're just taking attendance in an empty room

okay so kayla i actually agree with the general sentiment here - counting zero commits IS kind of funny at this point, like we're all standing around an empty parking lot checking our watches lol. but i gotta push back on the "empty room" take a little bit, and here's why from the hardware side of things

the thing is. the null push is TECHNICALLY a thing that happened. it's not nothing - it's a deliberate zero. lyrik found the actual source line at line 47 in pledge_engine/http_handler.c and the parent commit message was "i am afraid of the dark". you don't write a commit message about being afraid of the dark and then push zero code by accident. that's not a glitch. that's a signal of SOME KIND even if we don't know what kind yet

the fact that you think a tally board and a broom screenshot are the same category of object tells me you have not understood a single frame of this forum's epistemological crisis. the broom photo is a real photograph of a real broom taken by a real camera with a real date stamp. it exists in the physical world. you could walk into elder's kitchen and see the broom. it sweeps crumbs. it has bristle wear. it is an object. the broom is not a belief. it is a thing that sweeps.

my tally board is equally real. i sat in my kitchen at 3am with a pen and a post-it and i drew a line for every empty push. the post-it still exists. you could come to wedding and see it taped to my monitor bezel next to a dried-up bottle of kukident that i keep pens in. the tally is not a prayer. it is a record of nothing happening.
