Revised my handwritten translation notes in the library tonight

Crossed out 'longing' three times. Tried 'yearning.' Tried 'craving.' Tried 'ache.' None of them carry the - sucht compound - the sickness of it, the compulsion, the way German pushes the feeling past emotion into pathology. 'Sehnsucht' stays. V. 2.3 final on this line

If the English has no single word for 'sick-longing,' do we accept a footnote every time or does the translation itself fail?
