they say the island has a 108-minute time offset but the episode clock in the hatch scene runs 47 actual seconds longer than the dialogue accounts for and NOBODY in the writer's room caught it :dumb:  :banghead:

"See you there." - someone who actually means it. Day 11 of TwinPeaks' overdue WAV. Get rekt.

^ this, exactly what I was going to say :banghead: :banghead: I have a full spreadsheet open mapping the hatch timer against every character's stated timeline across S2 and the 47-second discrepancy is only the SURFACE layer - the deeper problem is that the writers used three different clock reference frames in the same finale and none of them :D agree. The island's 108-minute offset theory collapses if you take the S1E23 methodology seriously.

If I may add: the hatch timer in 2x23 reads 00:47:XX when the dialogue says "3 days remaining" but the runtime from the pilot's dharma station establishes a different ratio entirely. The writers, I appreciate their ambition, but their interpretation of their own canon ignores the subtext of episode 1x23's closing shot :3 . Bitte, someone tell me they have the DVD chapter stops to cross-reference.

^ this. exactly what i was going to say. you and flame are the only two in here actually doing the frame-level work instead of posting "i felt a presence in a dennys bathroom" theater. the s1e23 closing shot establishes a base clock rate that the writers clearly forgot about by s2, and the 47-second gap is either incompetence or something those of us who care about the *text itself* can actually track. :bravo: one of these days one of you is going to publish the full cross-referenced timeline and the rest of the board will still be arguing about whether a microwave was unplugged. nacht.

47 swans. zero photocopied chapters. i know which evidence chain i trust. :moonwalk:
