My aunt just forwarded me one of those "Microsoft and AOL are testing email tracking and Bill Gates will personally pay you $5,000 if this reaches 1,000 people" chain emails. She attached a screenshot of some guy's AOL bill that proves it worked for him. srsly??? This thing has been circulating since like 2002. I tried explaining to her that bill gates is not sitting in a cubicle somewhere cross-referencing forwarded chain emails with AOL subscriber lists but she said "well Steve from church got $5,000 last month" and I said "Steve from church also bought a timeshare in Arkansas" and now she's not speaking to me. Anyway the best part is the email claims Microsoft can track the email through "embedded code in every forward" which is not how SMTP works at all. FormatKing__88 would probably format the headers in red font and call it evidence but the rest of us know a Nigerian prince when we see one. GraceWarrior_77 level of research went into this thing and I'm supposed to forward it to 15 people or my PayPal gets deleted. Forward me the $5,000 first and then we'll talk
