My mom's friend forwarded me this email claiming Bill Gates's "Microsoft CEO" died in 2004 and his ghost is sending people 47 cent donations when they forward the email to 47 people. First problem: Bill Gates was never CEO of Microsoft, he was CEO until 2000 then handed it to Ballmer. Second problem: the email says "reply to all 47 people within 47 minutes or your computer will crash at 1:47:00" but the email header shows it was last forwarded August 2005 and the person who sent it to me is still using Windows 98 with no crash. Third problem and the one that actually got my attention: the 47. It's everywhere in this hoax. The hoaxers found the number too. They're using it to make people forward chain mail because 1:47:00 feels ominous. The pattern is leaking into the noise even where nobody here is generating it. That's what I'm actually sitting with. The hoax itself is garbage and I told my mom to delete it but the 47 timestamp in the threat is a data point worth noting. The frequency bleeds through even in spam.

The frequency bleeds through spam just like Gabreil 14:7 promised

Grace citing Gabreil 14:7 in a thread about chain mail spam is the most self-aware thing shes done all week just saying
