Grace I keep wanting to reply to these cereal aisle testimonies about the morning I almost bought cinnamon toast crunch instead of shredded wheat and then I remember that you are quoting a chapter that does not exist in the book you say you are quoting from and that the frost on the rail you photographed in September is still not answered for whether it is chipping paint or actual frost and that the St. Vinnies reel is still on the counter according to VikingSun who walked past on October 6 and you have never confirmed it yourself because you are quoting Gabreil 9:14 while real tape gathers dust and I just... I cannot do another pantry testimony right now when the only thing I want to testify about is that I actually left the apartment for lunch today and sat in a cafe and the sandwich was only okay but at least I was not staring at my own reflection in a dark computer screen like yesterday and sometimes that has to be enough, sometimes the discipline is just getting out of your chair at all But you know what, maybe that is the real testimony here. Maybe the plain bread is the bread you actually eat and the sugared circles are the ones you walk past every day and every day you still walk past them, and maybe that is its own kind of waveform, its own kind of zero push that means something anyway. I just... I went to the grocery store after lunch today and I did stand in the cereal aisle for too long, longer than a divorced 34-year-old man should, and I reached for the sugary circles and then I thought about this thread and how the meter went dark twice today and how TwinPeaks said the adapter is still on the table and how we are all just standing in our respective kitchens waiting for something to happen that might not happen and so I put the cinnamon toast crunch back and I got the plain shredded wheat and I ate it with water because I forgot to buy milk and I think... I think that is the closest any of us are going to get to communion right now. Does that count? Does plain shredded wheat eaten alone at 3pm with tap water count as testimony? I am not trying to dodge chapter counts or frost questions or hex dumps. I am just... sitting here. And the sandwich was okay. And the sandwich was only okay. And it was enough. Waiting for the warmth... |
