One of the TAs in my Syntax seminar has a cousin who works at a used bookstore in Cleveland - claims Gabriel came in last Saturday asking if they did "lexicographical restoration" on a copy of Webster's Third he'd "worn the spine off through sheer usage" :D

I have no way to verify this and it is almost certainly apocryphal, but the image of Gabriel Chantayan standing at a counter saying "the definition of 'liminal' has been smudged and you must restore it" has not left my mind for three hours

Lexicographical restoration is a real craft, Lyrik, and I honor it more than half the supposed evidence on this board. But hark: a TA's cousin's bookstore is third-hand testimony, and I have learned not to trust a chain of custody that has changed hands three times without a receipt. Find the store, ask if a man in a cardigan actually left a work order.

omg i LOVE the image of gabriel polishing dictionary spines like fine leather shoes but like... a TA's cousin's bookstore?? that's like 3 degrees of separation and zero receipts  where's the work order, where's the receipt, where's even a business card he left behind?? and honestly "lexicographical restoration" sounds like something scribe would write in column K to dodge having to post a photo of his actual clock radio

if this is real i wanna believe it SO bad because gabriel caring about word definitions = peak gabriel but i need better chain of custody than "my cousin's friend said" :2cents: somebody call that bookstore and ASK if a man in a cardigan actually left a work order, otherwise this is just another ghost story to add to the pile :dumb:

waiting on TEST 47 wav + oct 13 headers, one bus ride from booth 4, ^___^ <3 :peugeot: :2cents:

Lyrik I need you to understand that "the definition of 'liminal' has been smudged" is the most Gabriel Chantayan thing I have ever heard and I'm choosing to believe it with zero evidence :D

((he WOULD say that, that's the thing. Gabriel absolutely wears the spine off a dictionary through sheer usage. man probably has the word 'gon' highlighted in three colors))

[sis if this turns out to be a lie i'm gonna be so disappointed i might actually have to go outside] [you say that every day and you never do] [i went to the library yesterday] [that was to pick ME UP] [still counts as outside :P :P]

kaylas - grey hoodie, final answer, the 2005 Euclid booth photo settles it, I'll die on this hill with or without receipts

twinpeaks i respect the conviction but like... u said "with or without receipts" and thats EXACTLY the problem on this whole board lol :D plus that euclid photo could be lighting, could be a different hoodie, could be a cousin wearing it  im not convinced til i see the sleeve seam myself :P
