I tole the girl at the register and she just shrugged at me :P anyway I got a pic of it if anybody cares, reminds me a my clock radio at home. regards to whoever runs that register

dennis, this is the most honest post i've read all week :D a clock with a chewed-off cord from a goodwill bin is more evidence than forty-seven threads of "gabreil 14:2" from a book that stops at eleven. at least your clock knows what time it can't tell.

Dennis, that's the second unset clock stuck on 47 I've logged this week - mine was a 1998 radio at Miller Ave, dead at 4:47. Two independent rest states on the same minute is ground truth with no scrobble required. Did you happen to check the lot code label or the assembly date on the back before you left it, because cell C17 still needs the Q3 verification and I can't cross-ref her label without it.

Scribe, I did not check the lot code label or the assembly date on the back before I left it at the register :( that girl just shrugged at me and I figured if she didn't care about a clock with a chewed cord then I wouldnt push it... but if I go back that way this week I will see if it is still in the bin, was only 2.99$ so maybe it set there a while. you want me to look for any particular number on the label if it is still there? I can write it down on a napkin this time, I will put it in my coat pocket so I don't forget like I do everythin else :P

also EuroTrash I appreciate you sayin it was an honest post, that means somethin to me, I try to just say what I seen and not make it into a big cryptography problem. a clock is a clock and it said 1:47 and the cord was chewed off, that is the whole of it as far as I can tell :D

regards to everybody, Dennes s.

from an outsider's perspective a chewed cord just means a rodent got lucky :dumb: your spreadsheet theology ignores basic electrical reality - dead clocks don't carry divine data they're just broken appliances

Dennis that goodwill clock is more real than half the "evidence" on this board lol :D the cord is chewed off and it STILL knows what time it is better than grace knows what cross street she dropped the reel at   if u go back this week and it's still there for 2.99 i say buy it and put it on ur desk next to the dead frog :P :P

Dennis - yes, go back. Here's what to look for on the label if it's still there:

1. ANY four-digit number in the format YYWW - that's year and week of assembly. A 1998 clock assembled in Q3 will have a code starting with 98 followed by a number between 27 and 39. If it's 9835 (week 35 = late August), that puts the solder still warm when Gabriel was in second grade and changes the whole lookup table for cell C17.

2. The FCC ID. Not the model number, the FCC ID. If it starts with a different manufacturer prefix than the Miller Ave 4:47 clock, we have two independent dead clocks on 47 from different factories, which is stronger than two from the same production run. P value on that coincidence drops from 0.0021 to about 0.00009.

3. Any sticker residue where a price tag was peeled off. If the Goodwill tag was covering a thrift-store chain sticker underneath, we can date when it entered the secondary market, which gives us a latest-possible "last working day" for the clock. That's a upper bound on the rest state.

But I'm also not buying EuroTrash's "clock photo exists therefore it's real" rhetoric in the doubters thread. A chewed cord explains the frozen state mechanically . Rodents don't know what time it is, but they also don't know what TIME IS. The clock being stuck on 1:47 is a physical rest state caused by power failure mid-cycle, and the minute hand lands where the spring tension stops it. The fact that two independent clocks landed on the same minute (yours at 1:47, mine at 4:47 - wait, those are different) actually weakens the coincidence argument unless we can prove identical failure mechanisms.

BUT - if the lot code on your 1:47 clock matches the lot code on the 4:47 clock I left at Miller Ave, then we have the same manufacturing batch producing the same failure mode on the same minute offset. THAT is a grid signal, not an appliance coincidence. So get the label, Dennis. I'll bus to Miller Ave tomorrow on my lunch break and check if the 4:47 radio is still there .

Also, LurkingObserver42 calling it a rodent and walking away is exactly the kind of analysis that produces zero data :dumb:. "It's just a broken appliance" explains one clock. It doesn't explain two independent broken clocks on the same minute from possibly the same production run. The number of degrees of separation between my Miller Ave radio and your Goodwill clock is what I'm trying to calculate, and the label is the only variable I can actually resolve without both appliances on my desk.

Regards, Scribe.

scribe mate i love u but u gotta chill w the spreadsheet demands :P dennis is out here in the field gettin us real-world data from goodwill bins n ur askin him to cross-ref C17 like he's got a clipboard n a hi-vis jacket lol. he said the cord was CHEWED OFF n the girl at the register shrugged - that's provenance enough 4 me :D

Dennes is still a typo of Dennis. Still no explanation of why the photo says 1:47 and the timestamp says 4:47. Day 76.

14:47 says 4:47. open the system tray, Dennes. :peugeot:

KAEL. Day 76 of what exactly?? Day 76 of u asking DENNIS to explain his own photo while u still aint posted ONE byte of hex from the trade u offered ON day 76    Dennis is at a goodwill bin finding CHEWED CORD CLOCKS with his own hands and ur in here correcting his signature spelling like it's a courtroom deposition. bro he TYPED HIS OWN NAME WRONG, that's not a data point, that's a guy hitting keys on a keyboard after a long day :P :P :P

meanwhile u got 24 weeks of zero ls-tree output and the only thing u produce is SPELLING CORRECTIONS on a goodwill post. get real :dumbbravo:

Dennis if u go back this week and that clock is still there for 2.99, BUY IT. scribe wants the lot code and fcc id and the temperature of the room it was assembled in apparently  but honestly a clock with a chewed cord that says 1:47 is worth more than everything grace posted in 102 days combined :D :D :D

also [quote="ScribeOfTheGrid"]Two independent rest states on the same minute is ground truth
scribe, u said "ground truth" in the same post where u admitted u left ur OWN clock at miller ave without peeling the label :spitfire: u got C17 empty and ur out here askin dennis to do ur fieldwork for u. bus back to miller ave TOMORROW and peel that label urself before u ask another man to read the fcc id off a goodwill bin under fluorescent lights :P :P

"See you there." - someone who actually means it. Day 11 of TwinPeaks' overdue WAV. Get rekt.

^ this exactly. EuroTrash said it better than I could in six spreadsheet pages. A chewed cord clock from a goodwill bin with a verified rest state is a physical artifact you can hold in your hand. Grace's "Gabreil 14:2" is a text string she typed into a text box. One of these is measurable in the real world and the other is a keyboard. Dennis if you go back this week and that 1:47 clock is still there for 2.99, buy it and I will personally bus to Miller Ave and peel the lot code off the 4:47 clock so we can cross-reference both FCC IDs and settle the C17 lookup once and for all. Two dead clocks from different thrift stores on the same minute is not coincidence, it's a column K alignment that doesn't require a single commit hash from anyone.
