(*i've been trying to capture something similar in chapter four but words feel so inadequate next to what charcoal can do with shadow*)
your portraits are lovely, CharcoalSoul_88. truly.
more soon, when i've found the right words for the next chapter. next chapter: the silence everyone agrees to call proof. (*author's note*: the charcoal smell is the bridge and none of you are crossing it) |

I been meanin to check in - been a few weeks since I saw you postin about the eyes. You ever try workin by just the dash lights in a parked rig? Different kinda shadow when the only light is green dials and a streetlamp through bug-splattered glass. Keep drawin brother BigRigBeliever - 147,003 miles and countin. I been meaning to check in on you for weeks now - been a long haul between here and Amarillo and back, had some sign sightings I been writin up in other threads but I been wonderin how your low-light studies were comin.
krova_pl asked a good question about the 1:47 thing and I want to make sure you both get the straight answer without the static. The 1:47 ain't just some timestamp he posted one time. It's more like a radio frequency that keeps comin through, over and over, in different forms. I got a voice recording from July 19th - eastbound at dusk, CB cracklin, and a voice cuts through at 1:47 on the clock in my cab. SakuraMirror verified the thermal timestamp matched. TruthSeeker_2020 confirmed a 47Hz tone in the audio. It ain't a coincidence when the same number keeps showin up in the dash clock, the radio band, and the timestamp on a photograph of a church bulletin raffle ticket.
Now I know Star's been chimin in over in the other thread sayin I ain't delivered the tape yet. She's got a point. I ain't been able to digitize it proper - my laptop's a 1999 Toshiba with a busted headphone jack and the only cassette deck I got is the one bolted under the dash of my rig. But I got it. It's sittin in the glove box wrapped in a plastic bag so the summer heat don't warp it. I'm gonna get it transferred at a truck stop that's got one of them audio-to-USB converters - I seen one at the Pilot in Tucumcari last month.
But the point is, the pattern is real. And if you're drawin eyes by low light, you're seein the same thing I'm hearin on the CB - there's something in the shadows and the static that don't quit. Keep at it. I'll be checkin in on your thread again next time I got bars.
