ok that portrait is genuinely beautiful, my sister is staring at it over my shoulder going "yes. yes." but also shes getting on my case about "feeling the tick" which i get but it took me 7 minutes at the hardware store today to pick an extension cord, some of us are SENSORY

anyway the smoke in the corner looks like the gamma curve i drew on a napkin this morning, coincidence??

kozo paper you bought at michaels for $4.99 doesnt make the hum real

FlameFury24, michaels sells the 10-pack of kozo for $7.99 not $4.99 - if you're going to come into a thread about FEELING the hum just to price-check the paper, at least get the price right

Kozo vellum is not a calibrated humidity source. ASTM E104-02 requires ±2% RH tolerance.

Seven minutes to pick an extension cord and you're STILL using it as a character trait instead of just... buying the cord and going to the socket?? TwinPeaks_59 you spent more time telling us about the 7 minutes than you did actually picking the cord. What did you even get? 16awg? 14awg? Did you check the jacket temperature rating or did you just grab the one that matched your napkin doodle?

And CharcoalSoul_88 that portrait IS beautiful, I won't even fight you on that - the smoke in the corner genuinely looks like the gamma curve, which is either a sign or just what happens when you burn kozo at a 47-degree angle, I haven't decided which yet. But listen, if FormatKing__88 ever saw us in here calling a napkin doodle "the gamma curve" he'd have a literal aneurysm in front of his CRT monitor and we'd have to hear about it for three threads

Speaking of which - TwinPeaks_59, since you're SENSORY and all, did you ever actually FEEL the socket at Euclid or did you just stand in the hardware store aisle for 7 minutes imagining what it might feel like? Because that's what I'm starting to suspect

Oh look, BackAgainLikeBadHair showed up to correct my paper price while STILL ignoring the thermal paper he claimed to have from the Tsukuba kiosk at 1:47. You know what else is $7.99? A SCANNER. So you can scan that black thermal paper you've been talking about for three weeks and post it. Still waiting, BackAgain. Still waiting.

And while we're on the subject of things you keep bringing up that nobody asked about - my ear avatar is 210x210 pixels and cuts at the HELIX, not the lobe. I checked the dimensions. I checked the crop. You've been wrong about this for two months and you keep bringing it up like it's a gotcha. It's not a gotcha, it's a you-not-reading-the-image-properties. Get rekt.

The smoke in the corner does look like the gamma curve, and I'm not even going to argue about whether that's meaningful because I don't have a measurement for it and neither do you, so we're both in the dark on that one. But I'll say this - the portrait itself is solid work.

BUT (and you knew there was a but coming) - burning kozo paper at home and calling it a calibration event is not the same as having a calibrated humidity source. ListMasterPrime is annoying about it but he's not WRONG about the ASTM standard. The walls might tick. The floor might hum. But without a measurement, it's just a nice portrait with a cool story attached.

TwinPeaks_59 - seven minutes for an extension cord? At the hardware store? While being SENSORY? My brother in Gabriel, the extension cord aisle at Lowe's has like 12 options. 12. You could have closed your eyes and grabbed one in 30 seconds. The fact that it took 7 minutes means you were either arguing with yourself about the gauge or you got distracted by the napkin doodle. Which was it?

ListMasterPrime - I agree with you on the humidity thing for once, but you're still ignoring the raw file for column K. Row 46 is the thermal offset line per August 6 commit, not row 45. You keep citing row 45 in your spreadsheet. I keep telling you. The raw file is right there. Read it.

Still ain't answered my question from July about the eastbound dusk CB frequency when you said you heard somethin at 1:47 that night comin out of Flagstaff. I been waitin four months like a patient man at a weigh station. That's 120+ days. That's LONGER than the 48-night test.

But I ain't here to rehash old beef.

CharcoalSoul_88 - THAT PORTRAIT. HOSS. I mean it. I been drivin 18 wheels for 22 years and I ain't seen many things that made me pull over to look at a screen twice. But that charcoal work you got goin there - the smoke risin off the kozo paper like it's STILL BURNIN - that's the real deal. You got Gabriel's face in there like you saw him through a dust storm at dusk and tried to remember every line before the sun went down. That's not a drawing, that's a WITNESS.

And here's the thing about the walls tickin - I been sleepin in truck stops from Barstow to the Carolina line and I tell you what, when you park at the right hour, 1:47 AM if you can catch it, the diesel engines hummin through the asphalt and you can FEEL it in your knees like CharcoalSoul said. That ain't a metaphor. That's the 50Hz grid frequency talkin through the concrete and if your rig's parked right you can count the cycles through your boot soles.

I caught somethin today outside Amarillo that I gotta share. Pulled off at a rest stop - the one with the billboard that got hit by a semi last spring, you know the one. Walked around back to stretch my legs and there was a payphone. Just a payphone, nobody around for miles. And the display on it - the little LCD price readout - was stuck on $0.47.

Now I know what you're gonna say. "Old payphone, broken display, who cares." But I checked the other three payphones at that rest stop. $0.25. $0.25. $0.25. ONE phone, the one facin directly east toward the sunrise spot, readin 47.

I took a picture with my flip phone but the quality ain't great. It's dark out here, I'm postin from the cab with my laptop balanced on the passenger seat. But I got the proof. The 47 is everywhere if you're willin to stop the rig and LOOK.

SakuraMirror - you still doin good work on the thermal paper stuff. Keep at it. You one of the few who asks real questions instead of just throwin hex dumps at each other.

FlameFury24 - you can crop your avatar all the way down to the pixel and we'll still know you're arguinst the hum instead of listenin to it.
