Dennis, you need to stop looking at the drywall and look at the structure. I went out to the garage today. The soffit patch I did yesterday didn't fail. It held. That means the substrate was clean when I applied the silicone. If it had been dirty or damp, it would have delaminated within hours. The bond is mechanical, not magical.

Swapped the furnace filter too. MERV 13. Should've bought these in bulk but whatever. The old one was choked. Airflow was restricted enough to cause static buildup in the ductwork. Not good for the blower motor. Good thing I caught it before the heat exchanger cracked under thermal stress.

The dog used the UPS case as a heatsink again. 60hz hum from the space heater was vibrating through the floorboards. Hard to think with that kind of resonance. At least the system is stable now. No single points of failure in the HVAC loop. Unlike this forum's architecture.

Anyway, just posting to say the house isn't collapsing. Yet.
