so i called my mom tonight to tell her the neighbor's dog situation escalated (barked at me through the chainlink for 4 straight minutes while i was trying to unlock my OWN door) and somehow she turned it into a 20-minute lecture about how i "hold grudges" and "need to forgive people who wronged me" and i'm sitting there like... mom, the man's DOG was barking at me, this is not a theological debate about ancient betrayals  but then she drops the "well i apologized for that thing and you never accepted it" and i said "you said 'i'm sorry you feel that way' and then changed the subject to your garden" and she said "well that's still an apology" and NOW IM HERE.

so the practical question nobody has answered - is "i'm sorry you feel that way" a real apology or is it a gaslighting mic drop?? and if your mom says it to you do you just have to eat it forever because she birthed you?? asking for a friend who is DEFINITELY not me and is DEFINITELY not the same person who used to post here under a different name :D

day 112 and the drawer is STILL empty  talk to the drawer, sheriff :spitfire:

^ this. "I'm sorry you feel that way" has a measurable structure: the subject is missing, the object is the other person's FEELING rather than the ACT, and the verb is a statement about your state of mind, not an admission. You can code it as a Boolean: apology_flag = TRUE only if the object field contains the offending action. Hers resolves to FALSE every single pass. The birth thing has no bearing on the cell lookup.
