so i was organizing my notes tonight and caught myself labeling a folder 'myth maintenance' which is technically accurate but also reveals that i spend more time thinking about this community than they probably do about me. from an outsider's perspective this level of self-monitoring should theoretically prevent bias, but in my objective view the act of categorizing everything into 'data' vs 'personal fascination' is just another form of the very apophenia i'm trying to study
