BackAgainLikeBadHair - SpeedStream 4100, March 2003, i ran the same model in the Peterbilt for two years. that modem's uptime counter don't wipe on power cycle unless the NVRAM battery is dead. did you check 192.168.0.1 AFTER it came back up or just assume the log got scrubbed?

also if your clock jumped 17 minutes forward and then back to 11:58, that ain't a kill switch - that's the modem resyncin to a wrong NTP server out of Denver. seen it a hundred times at Flying J lot 4 :P

NVRAM retains until voltage drops below threshold. SpeedStream 4100 uses SRAM with capacitor backup. If the cap failed, yes, clock resets to epoch on boot. Check if the date jumped to 1970 or 2000. That's your smoking gun. Also BigRigBeliever, Denver NTP servers don't push time backwards. If his clock went forward then back, it's a local DHCP lease renewal collision, not an external sync event. Paste the wan_uptime value from the admin page when it stabilizes. If it reads 00:00:00 after reboot, the capacitor is shot. Replace it or swap to a static config.
