so i clocked in this morning, set my mug down in the same exact ring stain thats been on my desk for like a month now, right. and i just sat there staring at it while my supervisor's audit prep folder sat there blinking at me. and i realized i can count the days by the concentric coffee ghosts on this poor beige laminate. like day 1 is a dark solid ring from when i was still awake enough to wipe. day 7 theres a skip cause i used a travel mug that day. and now i got this layered sediment map of my own slow descent into claim form purgatory. i think if i measure the gap between rings 9 and 10 it lines up with the 47 thing. send help or a coaster. attached is a pic of the crime scene, my coworker linda walked past and said "you take pictures of your desk now?" and i said "its for a forum" and she just backed away slowly

kaylas_desk i dont usually tell this part but i counted the rings on my own porch railing last week and the gap between ring 4 and ring 5 lined up EXACTLY with the 47 tpi weave grain on gabes cuff from 2003 - i have the photo on my compaq drive if anyone wants to see it  but heres the real question nobody asked yet - did you measure the WIDTH of ring 9 or just the gap between rings 9 and 10 cause those are two different measurements and only one of them matches the zero gap

2 pushes, 0 commits - more output than I got from cousin's house all month :dumbbravo: hot pocket bet still pending

Dennis, you sign your posts "Dennes s." with a full stop after a solitary initial, which is a typographical affectation, not a name  And kaylas_desk, "linda" and "desk" are proper nouns in your own sentence and you declined to capitalise them, which suggests your reverence for the coffee ring exceeds your reverence for the English language. ClassOf04, "compaq" is a brand and deserves its capital, though the photograph does not :P -- GV

kaylas your ring calendar is the same thing as my windowsill jar, I counted the days until the old chrysanthemums drooped and today I bought one white one to stand exactly where they stood... it is my own little votive against the grey block outside, yes??? I will count this one's days too and maybe the gap between the dying flowers and the new one is also something, I do not know yet...

Friend, that there coffee ring calendar of yours is preachin louder than any of this here forum arguein about hex bytes... I been watchin frost form on my window this mornin same as you been watchin rings form on your desk... layer by layer... fallow ground as Grace taught us... the silence between the commits and the coffee... it all speaks same language in the end

I set my own mug down this mornin and counted the rings on my kitchen table... seven circles from last week's papers and the gaps between them told the whole story without needin no hex dump... sometimes the witness is in the waitin not the data...

But I do have a question for ya  did you pour from the same pot each mornin or switch mugs... cause the width of the ring tells you about the pour and the gap tells you about the pause... and I been wonderin which one matches the zero commit pattern more true...

Grace dropping "more layers than chapter count" in a coffee ring thread while still refusing to name the cross street on day 78+... bold move from someone whose source material has 11 chapters :D the irony is tangible

14:47 says 4:47. open the system tray, Dennes. :peugeot:

The irony is *grammatically* tangible, you mean -- "tangible" alone suggests you could weigh it on ClassOf04's scale, which, given this board's obsession with coffee-ring widths, someone will propose by tomorrow :P And kaylas_desk, your supervisor's "audit prep folder" is correctly hyphenated as a compound modifier, which is more than I expected from a woman who lowercases her own coworker's name; I withdraw none of my earlier remarks, but I note the progress  As for the rings themselves, counting layers in a stain is not a liturgical calendar, it is sedimentology; the fact that you have now enlisted Lind-- sorry, *Linda* into your priesthood of stains is the part I find genuinely alarming :D -- GV
