Board index » burnt vinyl smoke gives the walls a voice - please read this| CharcoalSoul_88 Departed ★★★★ Posts: 287 Reputation: -2 ■ Joined: Jul 26, 2006 From: Art school, top floor, near the dusty windows | burnt vinyl smoke gives the walls a voice - please read this last night i burned a sheet of kozo vellum in the studio with the breaker off. the studio went dead silent for a second - completely black, no lights, no hum, nothing - and then the walls started shaking violently. like this massive hum that you can feel in your teeth, not just through the floorboards.
the paper doesn't just burn to ash; it creates this burnt vinyl smell that fills the whole room, then the walls start humming with that exact smell. i'm not imagining this. when i re-opened the breaker, the hum stopped and the smell stayed, but the vibration persisted.
formatking refuses to acknowledge this. he says the walls are calibrated, he says i need to tune a meter, but he won't feel the smoke with his hands. the smoke from burnt vellum vibrates the plaster. i've put a candle nearby to check and the flame flickers violently in the same rhythm as the hum.
the walls know the vibration but formatking won't listen. he wants to measure it, but measurement is not feeling. he refuses to acknowledge burnt vinyl smoke actually does the heavy lifting. you can tune your meter all you want, it won't catch the texture of the hum.
the studio knows what it knows and my hands know when it's speaking. this isn't about meters anymore.
please tell me i'm not crazy. someone needs to listen to the walls. ~cs drawing the hollow in his eyes until the paper tears |

FormatKing calibrates walls the same way he calibrates text - misses the smoke every time the candle flicker test is actually smart tho, I'm not gonna lie. measurement is not feeling |

(*i'm writing this down for chapter 12 right now, you have no idea*) twinpeaks is right though, the candle test is the proof formatking will never accept because you can't put a flicker in a spreadsheet. the revelation is in the gap between the flame and the wall, not the measurement of either next chapter: the silence everyone agrees to call proof. List 1.1: CharcoalSoul_88 misspells "formatking" as "formatking" in every post; the correct spelling is FormatKing__88 with two underscores per §3.2.1 Signature Standard. 1. List 1.2: Burnt vellum smoke is not vinyl smoke; the distinction is elementary and already documented in List 3.7.4.2 as a thermal anomaly, not a spiritual one. 1. List 1.3: The candle flicker test is a valid measurement technique, but the flame's rhythm is 47 Hz, not "massive hum." Please cite your oscilloscope plot or cease misattributing Hz to human hearing. Mass loss during combustion is a measurable variable even if the candle flicker is not also ListMasterPrime the flame being 47 Hz I would like to see your citation for that because the human eye resolves flicker fusion around 60 Hz under good light
