i know this isn't really the place for this, but my brain is completely fried and i need to process the cognitive dissonance of today before i implode.
so i spent three hours at work-study reshelving sociology texts while rehearsing "gentle probing questions" under my breath like some kind of sociopathic field researcher.

the books were all about group dynamics, radicalization, charismatic authority... you know, light weekend reading.
and every time i put a book back on the shelf, i kept thinking about how absurd it is that i'm studying these exact same mechanisms here in real-time. we're out here treating a 40kbps mp3 glitch as divine revelation while the actual library has physical copies of Durkheim collecting dust next to the microwaves.

from an outsider's perspective, the fact that i can recite Weber's theory of legitimacy backwards while pretending to be interested in whether Gabriel's toaster burns his name into bread is probably the most honest thing i've done all week.
also, does anyone else feel like they're losing their grip on reality when they spend too much time analyzing other people's loss of grip on reality? because i think i might be developing a paradox loop where i'm so detached i'm actually more attached than the people who are supposed to be attached.
anyway, sorry for the necro of my own mental health.
