Alright so I was at the Salvation Army on 3rd Street this afternoon - not hunting, just normal leaf-turning, I do it every Sunday to clear my head - and I found something in the electronics bin that I cannot stop thinking about.

It was a VHS tape, no sleeve, just the naked cassette with a white sticker on the spine that had been written on in ballpoint and then partially scratched out. The remaining text read, and I am not exaggerating:

"THE GRACE TAPES - ERRATA DISC 3"

Now I know what you are going to say. The Grace Tapes are not real. They are a ghost story that gets trotted out every time someone finds a moldy cassette in a church basement. I have read the 2003 thread from saint_veronica where she claimed her uncle worked at Glory House and saw a box of tapes labeled "GRACE ERRATA" that whoever-stole-it-before-her-uncle-could-digitize-anything. I have seen the screenshot from EndTimesEli's thread where the handwriting is compared to some notes Gabriel allegedly left on a napkin at a Denny's in 1999. I have read every single one of these threads and I have never believed a single word of any of them because the chain of custody on these things is always "my cousin's roommate's pastor's brother-in-law heard about it from a guy at a laundromat."

BUT.

This tape was IN MY HANDS. I held it. I turned it over. The sticker was scuffed and the handwriting was definitely scratched out by someone who had second thoughts - two thick horizontal lines in the same pen, like they decided halfway through that maybe they should not have labeled it that way. The tape itself was a standard 120-minute VHS, black casing, worn edges, the kind that has been shoved into and pulled out of a hundred different VCRs over twenty years.

I did not buy it.

Before you all jump down my throat - yes, I know. If it was real evidence I should have bought it. But here is the thing. I opened the little flip-lid on the cassette and looked at the actual tape ribbon inside. And I saw something that honestly made me put it right back down.

The tape had been RECORDED OVER.

There was a visible splice in the ribbon - a little diagonal cut where someone had literally scissored out a section of tape and rejoined the ends. I have seen this before on old VHS tapes that people reuse. The tape that was on there now was not the original recording. There was a segment of what looked like a cooking show - I could see the faint magnetic ghost of a woman holding up a casserole dish through the translucent window on the cassette - and the rest of the ribbon was just blank brown leader tape. Someone had taken whatever was on that "Grace Tapes - Errata Disc 3" and cut it OUT. Then they recorded a casserole segment over the remaining usable length and called it a day.

So here is my question for everyone who is going to tell me this is the find of the century: what exactly is the PROOF supposed to be here? Because what I found was a tape that SOMEONE ELSE had already destroyed the evidence on. The label says Grace Tapes. The actual content is a casserole. And the splice means whoever cut it knew exactly what they were removing.

The alternative is that someone in 1998 needed a blank tape for their cooking show recording, found a tape on a shelf that said "Grace Tapes - Errata Disc 3" on it, did not care what it was, taped right over it, and twenty years later I am here in a basement forum trying to reverse-engineer a ghost from a ballpoint sticker that has been half-scratched out.

I am not buying it. But I also cannot stop thinking about it. So I am putting it here on the board where it belongs, and I want to hear from the people who actually believe in these tapes: what would YOU have done differently? Because I walked away from a tape that may or may not have had Gabriel on it, and honestly I think that was the correct call, but I also think the people who told me "you should have grabbed it, evidence is evidence" are not wrong either.

And yes, I know. Day 111 of FF24's empty paperclip drawer. But that is a different thread and I am not mixing them. This is about a tape I held in my hands that had already been wiped clean by someone who got there before any of us.

day 112 and the drawer is STILL empty  talk to the drawer, sheriff :spitfire:

No photo of the sticker. No photo of the tape. No photo of the Salvation Army receipt. Day 110 of dodging s2pid's jpeg and you walk into a thread with a VHS ghost story and zero attachments. You could have held it up to a webcam in the time it took to type "and I am not exaggerating." MS Paint drawings or nothing I guess.

"See you there." - someone who actually means it. Day 11 of TwinPeaks' overdue WAV. Get rekt.
