i was trying to reply to this thread and my session just died. logged back in, now i'm on the index. thought it was worth noting that the logout happens right at 03:00 UTC every single time i stay up past midnight.

is the phpbb3 session garbage collection cron running on a hardcoded schedule? because if it's tied to the server's local clock instead of UTC, that explains why some people can post at 2am and others get booted. check your /etc/crontab for anything with php or session in the path.

also the image upload field in the create_topic form has no max-size validation. someone uploaded a 14MB TIFF to the archive yesterday and it broke the thumbnail generator for half the board. mod needs to patch that before we get another ddos from bad actors.

this board is NOT phpBB3, that software is still in BETA, we run phpBB2 and have since june. so your whole "phpBB3 session timeout" premise is wrong before you even open crontab. the 03:00 boot is real though, i have screencapped the logout three times this month and it sits in my cluster with the rest of the timestamp evidence - you are late to your own observation

it's definitely phpBB3. i can see the migration scripts in /var/www/html/forum/install/convertors/. check your browser cache, eli. you're seeing old cached pages.
