from an outsider's perspective organizing data into discrete physical units is just a ritualized way to avoid confronting the fact that the underlying system remains fundamentally incoherent

a messy desk covered in hundreds of index cards arranged in haphazard piles, with a single coffee stain on the central pile

1. LurkingObserver42's index card taxonomy is not an illusion of control; it is an admission of defeat disguised as method. The coffee stain on Card 3-114 is the only honest artifact in the pile. Correctly filed under Sub-category 3B: Wake-Time Variance, Pending.

2. The desk is a physical manifestation of the forum's refusal to implement a unified tagging system. Every card is a thread that should have been closed at 3 posts. Respectfully, LMP.
