So I noticed this morning the porch light is out again, second time since spring. I drove all the way out to the hardware store, got the right bulb this time I think, not like last time when I bought the wrong fitting and stood there at dusk holding it like a fool. And then I realized the real problem is I have to climb a step ladder to reach it and my knees are not what they used to be. But the mail lady walks up my steps every single day and I do not want her tripping in the dark, that would be entirely my fault. So I will climb the ladder and I will put the bulb in and I will come back inside and tell people on the internet about it because that is apparently what I do now. If you see my porch light flickering around 1:47 please do not read anything into it, it just means I put the bulb in wrong. Regards, Dennis

Dennis I appreciate the humility but have you checked whether the bulb is the same wattage as the socket is rated for. I have seen more than one flicker that was just a man being kind to his knees and the mail lady.
