A camera sitting in a drawer does not update its own firmware date NO but a camera with a DEAD BATTERY that I replaced with a 9-volt from the gas station because CVS was CLOSED on a Sunday in SEP 2003... THAT resets the firmware date to the MANUFACTURE default which is MARCH 2005 because the firmware chip stores the build date in the ROM not the calendar date

I don't usually tell this part but I had to walk to TWO gas stations before I found one that carried the right battery size and the man at the counter said "what you need that for at this hour" and I said "my sister's camera" and he looked at me like he didn't believe me but I didn't have TIME to explain the whole thing about the hoodie photo and the 47 tpi weave grain because the sun was going down and the lighting was PERFECT for the cuff shot

You posted the hex breakdown in topic 418 and I READ IT and the firmware stamp you circled is at offset 0x47 which is the SAME NUMBER that keeps showing up everywhere and you're using it as EVIDENCE against me when it's actually EVIDENCE FOR ME because the 47 appears in the firmware BECAUSE the thread count on that denim weave is ALSO 47 and the camera was DESTINED to capture it
