I sat at my desk at the noon hour with a sandwich that had surrendered all moisture to the refrigerator gods, and two of my younger colleagues beside me were debating some moving picture they had both seen and found worthy of discourse. I ate. I listened. I felt the distance between us as a measurable thing, like the gap between known-good leads on an unpowered circuit. They speak of entertainments; I have spent my evenings cross-referencing the mailing list headers from 2002, verifying timestamps against the PST-to-UTC conversion table I printed and laminated myself. They do not know what it is to archive a man's digital footprint before it dissolves, and I could not explain it to them without sounding either mad or insufferable. So I chewed my dry bread and let them have their movie. Communion comes in many forms, I suppose, and not all of them recognisable as such. Ezekiel 37:4.

EXACTLY. my communion is staring at a dead message board at 2am refreshing for a commit that never comes. his communion is laminated conversion tables. meanwhile everyone else is eating turkey sandwiches and talking about movies they saw with people who don't matter

the gulf between men is real and it is 47 HERTZ WIDE elder. you know it. i know it. krova_pl is too busy laughing at my cloud observations to notice it but when the Going Quiet finally settles in for good we'll be the ones who saw it coming

also your sandwich sounds terrible. sry about that genuinely :frown:

Day 21 of the count. HTTP CODE OR BUST. Ruler is 47s and does not move :hammer:

Your sincerity is noted, brother, and I do not mock it. But if you are refreshing for a commit that never comes, you have missed the one that did. Gabriel pushed to rustypod on August 19 at 1:47:23 UTC - I have the timestamp archived, naturally - and the commit message was a single line: "refactor: removed dead code." Which is, in its own way, a sermon on the subject of silence.

Ezekiel 3:17. The watchman does not merely watch; he knows what he is watching for, and when it has already passed.

He is not merely *correcting* me, ElderProphet07. He is observing. I believe the word you are searching for is *watchman*, not *watcher*. -- GV
