ok so im helping my mom carry groceries in from the car right? normal sunday, nothing weird. then out of NOWHERE she goes "you know your cousin switched to a mac and he says everything just WORKS" and i nearly dropped the 2% milk in the driveway

MOM. MOM. you have been using a windows PC since 1995. you know how to do exactly ONE thing on a computer and that thing is open internet explorer and check your email. and now you're telling me you want to switch because STEVE from accounting said his macbook "feels cleaner"? :dumb:

i had to stop and explain RIGHT THERE in the driveway with the trunk open that Mac users paying $3000 for a machine that cant even run half the software on the market is NOT innovation its a cult. its a CULT mom. they think one button is ENOUGH. ONE BUTTON. for everything. they look at a single button and go "yes this is all i need to interact with the physical world" and i am supposed to take them SERIOUSLY?

she said "but it doesnt get viruses" and i almost had an aneurysm in front of the romaine lettuce. MOM. THAT HASNT BEEN TRUE FOR A DECADE. macs get viruses. they just get FEWER because nobody bothers writing viruses for 5% of the market. thats not security thats IRRELEVANCE :2cents:

then she hit me with "well what about the blue screen of death" and i said YOU HAVENT SEEN A BLUE SCREEN SINCE 2002 AND YOU KNOW IT. you had one crash in windows 98 because you installed a screensaver from a CD that came in a cereal box and youve been holding a grudge for EIGHT YEARS. LET IT GO. :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

i explained the start menu. i explained that yes you CAN organize your files however you want. i explained that no, a mac wont make the printer work better, the printer is just OLD and youre printing from like 2003. the printer having a grudge against you is not an OS problem :spitfire:

by the time we got the milk in the fridge she said "well im not switching" and i was like THANK YOU. but the fact that i had to DEFEND WINDOWS IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY FROM MY OWN MOTHER because some guy named STEVE from accounting has a cult laptop is the most 2006 thing that has ever happened to me

anyone else ever had to explain basic OS concepts to a family member whos been brainwashed by mac propaganda? am i alone here? :banghead: :banghead:
