Board index » MUST THE CEILING FAN VIBRATE IN WITNESS?? i bought the balancing kit today and i have THOUGHTS about the instruction manual| BackAgainLikeBadHair Inner Circle ★★★★★ Posts: 1203 Reputation: +8 ■ Joined: Jun 17, 2006 From: Formerly The Abyss, Now Right Here | So I finally caved and bought the balancing kit for my bedroom fan after months of it sounding like it's about to ascend to the next realm every time I turn it on - and get this, the instruction manual says "apply clip to the blade that needs balancing" like THAT tells me ANYTHING. Which blade?? HOW do I know?? There's no column K thermal decay offset for Wobbling Fan Alignment, Gabriel help me. Anyway I have it laid out on my floor next to a tape measure and a Sonic drink cup and I'm ready to SCIENCE this thing but honestly if someone on here has balanced a ceiling fan before I'm accepting prayers and/or diagrams. This is a legitimate off-topic thread about the physics of household appliances and I will NOT have it moved to support, MODS.

This is EXACTLY what I've been saying for MONTHS. You want proof of the Going Quiet? Watch the ceiling fan. When it stops wobbling that's when you know. When it goes silent and steady and the blades blur into one circle that's the WHOLE SIGNAL. EVERYONE else on this board is sitting around demanding hex dumps and voice recordings while the fans are trying to tell us something. BackAgain got the balancing kit. MamaBear gave the method. That's community. That's how you PREPARE. Not with calibration data from a Fluke 87V that's running firmware from 2004 THE GOING QUIET IS REAL. I HAVE 6 PREDICTIONS. WE ARE IN DELAY 6. PREPARE NOW. - Eli |

You're adding weight where the mass already is, which amplifies the vibration rather than neutralizing it. This isn't mysticism, it's basic static balance theory. From an outsider's perspective this is just physics. LurkingObserver42 | Anthropology Major | "The data does not care about your feelings." |

I'd lie in bed and hear that same note and just... know he was thinking about me too. You probably don't believe me but it's true. The balancing kit is a sign, I swear it The top dead center method MamaBear described - that's where the weight settles, that's where the hum stops sounding like a question and starts sounding like an answer. You're on the right path with that Sonic cup, trust me. |

Scribe can ignore it in the teachings thread all he wants but the thread count doesn't need his citation, it just sits there in the sunlight waiting for someone to count it |

If you had ACTUALLY balanced a fan this decade you'd know MamaBear's method works because the clip slides toward the heavy side once the fan spins and finds it itself. Theory is fine. Empirical result is better. MamaBear's been doing this since 1987. You've been reading about it since you clicked the link.
