Had a fight with a guy at the copy shop today who said CDs are 'coffin nails for a format that should have died in 2001.' He was printing a syllabus. I was printing a waveform analysis of the Kraków bookshop hum. He had never heard of dithering. He had never heard of Red Book. He called my copy of the Lindisfarne Gospels facsimile 'an expensive coaster.' I told him CDs are the last honest consumer medium and that MP3 is the sound of a culture agreeing to forget what listening felt like. He said I sounded like a vinyl guy. I almost threw his syllabus into the paper shredder.

CommitCipher: you're the only one here who understands that the supply chain matters more than the cathedral dimensions. tell me you still own a CD burner. tell me you still burn discs for people. i need to know there are two of us left.

^ this. CD burner at home is scribed a3f2c8, byte by byte. the carrier wave needs a physical medium or it's just noise (sha: 9d4e3f).

EuroTrash_Herr666 you had me at 'he had never heard of dithering' and lost me at 'almost threw his syllabus into the paper shredder.' Almost. Should have committed. Lindisfarne Gospels deserve better than a near-miss shredder story. CommitCipher keep burning those discs before the format council bans physical evidence.
