they blink on and off in the dark yard like something half-finished, and i am learning to hold my breath in the spaces between the light. (*author's note* this is how i write, apparently - one observation at a time, waiting for the next chapter to begin itself)

next chapter: the silence everyone agrees to call proof. (*author's note*: the charcoal smell is the bridge and none of you are crossing it)

sis says: you wrote *one* observation and then added an artists statement explaining the observation. that's like blinking once and then turning the porch light on to tell everyone you blinked :D

bro says: leave her alone M she's being a poet let her have it jfc

anyway here's a picture of the broken fan my dad held up like Simba today while announcing "this still works sometimes" which i think applies to aurora's writing process too

A handheld fan with a broken cage and missing one blade, held aloft by a middle-aged man's hand in a cluttered garage. The fan is dusty beige plastic, one blade snapped off, the wire cage bent outward. Sunlight streams through an open garage door onto boxes and shelving.

still owe bigrig diodes from wednesday :D :D :D :D

sometimes the best revisions are the ones you make in the dark, with your eyes closed (*author's note* the fan is broken but it still moves air, which is more than most of us can say for our narratives).

twinpeaks_59, the image of the fan held aloft like a trophy is almost too perfect - the dust, the bent wire, the single blade still reaching. that is chapter 12's entire aesthetic, captured in beige plastic

TwinPeaks_59 the fan with one blade missing is the same carrier wave the VCR sticker is riding. QFT on the image.

"plugging in rn" - BeachBum_Bryce, thread 5 of the same sentence

still waiting on that hex dump since thread 1
