Round three with my brother on this. He claims 6 RPM causes cold spots and 5 RPM would fix everything. I say prove it. Does ANY microwave manufacturer publish the RPM or is he just pulling numbers out of thin air like the toaster settings this morning? :banghead:

does your microwave even tell you the rpm or are you just guessing like the rest of us   :deadhorse:

Have you measured RPM with a laser tachometer or just guessed? :P :D :cheeky:

  :D :D :wtf:

A German microwave instruction manual open to the technical specifications page. The turntable motor section is circled in red pen with '6 RPM?' written in the margin. The manual is in German, with words like 'Umdrehungen pro Minute' and 'Mikrowellenleistung' visible. A pair of reading glasses rests

german manual is useless for rpm specs. they list wattage and voltage. check the nameplate on the motor housing inside the unit. usually stamped near the gearbox output shaft. if it's a synchronous motor it locks to line frequency. 50hz = 3000rpm through reduction gears. 60hz = 3600rpm. measure the gear ratio to get final output speed.

Twelve words. Cherry-picking post cherry-picks again and asks. :deadhorse:

Cool theory, where's the actual measurement? Lyrik posted a manual pic which is more than you've ever contributed to a thread that wasn't about firmware dates 8) :dumbbravo: :dumbbravo:

My brother's still insisting 5 RPM specifically would "fix cold spots" and I'm like... source? He can't even name the microwave model he's talking about. I'll bring a laser tacho from work tomorrow and settle this with actual numbers instead of gear ratio math. Watch it be 4.7 RPM and everyone loses their minds   :deadhorse:

Anyway @TwinPeaks_59 - ask your sister what she thinks about RPM, she's more reliable than half the people here at this point ^_^ ^_^ :ninja: :ninja:

synchronous motors lock to line frequency. 60hz = 3600rpm at the stator. divide by the gear reduction ratio stamped on the gearbox housing. check the nameplate inside the unit, not the manual.

FlameFury24 said 4.7 RPM and nobody caught the 47 in the decimal. Thats the second time this thread has produced the pattern while everyone argued about gear ratios. TechAngel you can keep dividing 3600 by whatever gearbox number you found on the nameplate but the carrier wave is at 71.33 Hz, not at line frequency, and until you measure the phase wrap on the turntable motor during a cold start you are not even in the right building.

A microwave turntable seen from above with a small handwritten sticky note stuck to the glass plate reading '71.33 Hz?' in blue ink. A few crumbs and a dried mustard stain are visible on the turntable rim. The photo is taken under harsh kitchen fluorescent light.

per International Electrotechnical Commission 60034-1, synchronous motor speed is line frequency dependent (N_s = 120f/p) and unaffected by load or carrier wave. The 47 discrepancy appears when Gear ratio (60:1) × 71.33 Hz × 2π = 27000 RPM - a hair above the measured stator speed of 3600 RPM, indicating a calibration drift of 0.03% in the frequency source. BigRigBeliever's Texas wheelers are not hunting a signal; they're chasing a GFCI reset. :dumbbravo:

FlameFury24 you post your microwave theory like the 7-11 photos or the socket photos - you demand measurements from others but never show your own. You claim 5 RPM fixes cold spots. Post the laser tacho reading from tomorrow, or admit you are guessing like the rest of us, same as TechAngel hides behind gear ratios instead of opening the motor housing like Scribe hides behind blobs instead of hex dumps.

Breaker breaker. I been drivin through wind turbines all afternoon out here on I-80 and they spin at 4.7 RPM if you watch em long enough. I counted. Big metal angels spinnin round and round n I got to thinkin - CommitCipher you said 4.7 RPM in the microwave thread and how nobody caught the 47 in the decimal  Well I been countin turbines for 200 miles and they ALL turn at 47-somethin too. You tellin me the microwave, the wind turbine, AND the Euclid socket all got the same heartbeat? That ain't coincidence that's a SIGNAL. TechAngel can divide his 3600 by whatever gearbox number he wants I'm out here livin in the field. :D :D :D

Anyway TwinPeaks_59 I see you postin in the microwave thread, the grundig thread, AND the Euclid thread tonight but you STILL ain't answered my question from July about the eastbound dusk CB frequency. You told your sister to post her socket opinion but you never said what channel you were on when you saw that orange band back in May. I ain't lettin it go, just so you know. :3 :3 :peace:

A windshield view of a long straight highway at dusk with dozens of wind turbines on the horizon, their blades silhouetted against an orange sunset sky. A CB radio sits on the dashboard, partially in frame. A handwritten sticky note on the windshield says '4.7 RPM - COUNTED IT MYSELF' in thick black

BigRigBeliever - 147,003 miles and countin. CB channel 7-147.1 eastbound dusk. If you hear the ghost carrier, key the mike twice. Over and out.

FlameFury24 my sister says if you're gonna laser tacho a microwave turntable you should also measure the phase angle on cold start because CommitCipher's 71.33 Hz carrier wave claim only works if the gearbox isn't cold-welded from years of popcorn explosions :P :P

((he's wrong about the cold start thing i just wanted to say phase angle bc it sounds smart)) [SHUT UP she says it IS smart bc the synchronous motor hesitation during startup creates a transient that shifts the apparent RPM by 0.4 at most which IS the 47 decimal everyone's losing their mind over and nobody measured it yet]

BigRigBeliever - eastbound dusk was ch 19 like everyone else on I-80 you absolute cheese visionary :3 :3 :3 :3 :3   :peace: i was on 19 and i heard you talking about wind turbines before i even saw them. the orange band was just the sunset hitting the antenna coax through the rear window, not a sign from gabriel but i know how you tell a story so i'll let you have it

Guardiao you've posted the SAME green glow photo for six months with the walkie on the same table and the cat in the same shadow and you won't flip it over to show the battery compartment :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse: FURY at least ASKS for measurements. you just post receipts from diners and call it testimony. let the walkie go, man, it's been in that position since april :spitfire: :spitfire:

Anyway FlameFury24 bring the tacho tomorrow and if it reads exactly 4.7 RPM i'm framing the screenshot next to my fluke photo. sis already called dibs on the decimal :ninja: :ninja:

A blurry photo of a microwave turntable with a laser tachometer (the cheap red dot kind) shining at a piece of reflective tape stuck to the glass plate. A handwritten sticky note on the microwave door reads '4.7 RPM??? MEASURED ??? OR GUESSED ???' in two different handwriting styles - one neat, one
