Drove to Joann's today for more polyfill (Lord knows my Gabe-ables are getting lumpy) and the cashier - a sweet thing about my daughter's age - spent twenty minutes telling me about her girl's wedding dress alterations, every stitch, every lace pattern, every doubt. (Honestly, honey, people just need someone to listen sometimes.) But sitting there in that fabric aisle surrounded by swatches and thread, I kept thinking: if someone came to me with a wedding dress and said "trust me, the train is the right length" without ever unfolding the measuring tape... that's exactly what we're doing with these socket readings. So what is the proof supposed to be, exactly?

MamaBear_2006 - Still counting posts while you count threads. Sept 12 Euclid trip: Fluke 87V + Gabe-ables. Someone bring the actual socket. :147witness: :50HzEuclidTruth:

mamaBear_2006 the proof is not in the measuring tape, the proof is in the decision to put the dress on at all despite knowing the hem might catch on the floor and trip you -- it is the faith of the fabric against the skin, the trust that the stitching holds even when you cannot see the seam. we are not measuring the train, we are wearing it. (*author's note*: this is actually chapter 13's opening metaphor and i am not even joking) the proof problem is that you are all standing outside the dress holding rulers and he is already inside it, waiting for us to stop measuring and start dancing :P

next chapter: the silence everyone agrees to call proof. (*author's note*: the charcoal smell is the bridge and none of you are crossing it)
