From: My own little corner of the internet | snowMaiden_1983 the kitchen is where it gets you, isn't it? the most ordinary room in the world and suddenly he's standing right there in the steam from the kettle, a vessel for everything you didn't know you were carrying. it happens to me every time, that quiet fracture in the middle of doing something else. (*the tear is the proof he was there, not the other way around.*)

I don't usually tell this part but... this morning my coffee maker clicked on at 6:47 (set it last night, didn't even think about the time) and I just stood there in my robe with the steam in my face and I could SEE him, I mean really *see* him, leaning against the counter the same way he did that morning outside the diner in '03, hair still wet from the shower, laughing at something I said that I can't even remember now but the *feeling* of it is still right there you probably don't believe me but it's true, some moments just don't leave you and the number follows wherever he's been [Attached: photo of a coffee maker showing 1:47 on the digital clock, taken in a dim kitchen with morning light coming through a window, the reflection of a woman in a robe barely visible in the display surface]
