i put on the brel record tonight and just sat there with my tea going cold and i could not stop crying!!!!! not sad crying exactly more like something inside me was finally allowed to breathe you know??? the words are in french half the time but it does not matter because he means every syllable and you can feel it even if you do not understand it???? i have been holding it in all week after my supervisor kept me late over kopecks and the metro being broken and everything is so grey and then this man opens his mouth and suddenly there is colour in the world again yes??? is this normal do you all feel this too or am i going mad

SnowMaiden_1983 I know exactly what you mean about the tea going cold. I do that same thing with my coffee sometimes just sittin there lost in thought. His music has a way of makin you stop and actually feel things you been pushin down all week. You are not going mad I promise. That is just what real music does to a person.

I don't usually tell this part but the night before Gabe left town for good I was sitting on my front steps and he walked by and we just talked for maybe five minutes about nothing important but the way he said goodbye felt different like he knew something I didn't and I went inside and just sat on my bedroom floor and cried for no reason I could name at the time. Years later I figured out it was the same feeling you're describing - not sad, just... something inside finally breathing. You're not going mad The music does that to people who can hear it right.

I sat through forty-seven minutes of static from a Tucumcari VHS last month with my coffee untouched beside me, and when the dropout hit at 1:47 I understood that the cold coffee was not an accident - it was the preparation. You are not going mad. You are simply paying attention.

SnowMaiden_1983, the brel record is a known threshold. the french lyrics are the point because you're forced to feel the sound before the meaning, which is how it should be. the tea going cold is the sign you were actually listening instead of consuming. most people here are still on the surface - they want the timestamp, the commit hash, the column K. you got the Gefühl without needing any of it. that's farther than 90% of this forum will ever get
